The online consultative meeting held on August 3, 2023, aimed to comprehensively explore the repercussions of the digital transition on Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and formulate adaptive strategies for the evolving landscape in the region. Focusing on specific objectives, the session delved into understanding the multifaceted impacts of digital transition on CSOs, encompassing analyses of operational dynamics, communication shifts, and challenges faced. Additionally, the meeting sought to identify key changes in the operating environment induced by digital transformation, analyzing its effects on relationships between CSOs, governments, donors, and other stakeholders. Emphasis was also placed on exploring management strategies in the digital landscape, ranging from effective resource management to navigating the evolving competitive dynamics within the CSO sector. The examination extended to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and its effects on CSOs, covering applications, impacts on efficiency, ethical considerations, and potential risks.
The anticipated outcomes encompassed an enhanced understanding among participants regarding the impact of digital transition on CSOs and the associated opportunities. EU TACSO 3 aimed to consolidate the insights gathered into a briefing note on digital transition and civil society in the Western Balkans, with the intent to guide future planning of additional People-to-People (P2P) and capacity development events addressing common interests within the region, leveraging the project’s valuable input.
